Overview

The Architecture of Unbecoming considers the systematic process by which the vitality of the inner child is rendered dormant through societal expectation, routine, and self-conscious performance. The scribbled surface—chaotic yet tender—echoes a time before internal policing took root. Over this vibrancy, the central black form is not just a division but a structure: the spatial manifestation of social conditioning and the scripts we inherit about success, identity, and belonging.

This work interrogates how growing up is not only an act of becoming but also an act of unbecoming—of trading immediacy for decorum, invention for repetition. Though scratched and unstable, the architecture persists—a barrier between instinct and expression. Yet, within the friction, there remains movement. Traces of the child persist, ghosting beneath the surface, reminding us that freedom, once embodied, never disappears entirely.

The Architecture of Unbecoming offers no resolution—only a mirror. It reflects the ongoing effort to recover what was surrendered in the name of growing up.
