Defiance and Divinity is not about belief. It is about conflict held in plain sight.
Two forces stand opposed, but neither is external. The figures of Jesus and the Devil are not characters. They are conditions. Control and impulse. Restraint and release. The ongoing negotiation between what we hold together and what threatens to come apart.
Jesus does not dominate the space. He holds it. There is no aggression in his presence, only a quiet, deliberate control. Opposite him, the Devil does not wait. He presses forward, immediate, reactive, unresolved. The tension is not in their opposition, but in their proximity. Neither disappears. Neither wins.
This work sits inside that standoff. Not as narrative, but as recognition. The pull between discipline and indulgence, clarity and distortion, intention and reaction. These are not abstract ideas. They are constant, lived states.
There is no resolution offered here. Only the understanding that whatever we call control is not fixed. It is maintained. Tested. Reclaimed, again and again.
